The Last 6 Weeks

Losing My Mind

The last six weeks have been as hectic as any six weeks I’ve encountered in my 26 short years on this planet. As mentioned in the previous post, there are changes galore; serious changes, positive changes. A change that will enhance my day to day life for the better. Unfortunately, I cannot divulge this information until it’s completed (sorry to leave you hanging). Be not afraid, for I am not moving to some faraway land, joining the Peace Corps or having a sex change. Just doing something that will, I hope, allow me to enjoy more life even more than I already do. After the jump, a few updates to the 101 (which those with Eagle Eyes may have already noticed, as well as upcoming plans for concerts, as well as changes to the blog.

I’m Sorry!

There, I said it, I’m sorry for not updating this regularly, despite my promises to do so. I’ve been busy though, seeing three different concerts in three different states to increase my total concerts to nine! I’m nearly a third of the way towards my goal of 30 concerts in 1001 days.

The first was a free ticket to check out No Doubt at the Bamboozle Festival held in the Giants Stadium parking lot in New Jersey. “Punk” Rock scene kids were everywhere, as most of the bands at this show were of the Fall Out Boy variety. No Doubt put on a hell of a show. A separate picture gallery will be provided, I got as close to the stage as I could, but the truth is, I’m getting old and much preferred to stand 100 feet from the stage comfortably than 10 feet from the stage and uncomfortable, at least in this situation.

The second was ANOTHER free ticket, this time to see Keith Urban at Mohegan Sun. As great as No Doubt was, this show was far better. It could be the lack of annoying kids, or the fact that I was able to enjoy a delicious seafood dinner beforehand, or that my free floor seats were comfortable and close to the stage, but Mr. Nicole Kidman put on the best arena show I’ve seen in AGES. A non-country fan could enjoy Keith Urban’s energy, running across the stage, from the back of the arena to the front, tearing up his guitar. His backup band has to be one of the best in the business. I reccommend seeing him strongly and will have a separate gallery of pictures for this show as well.

Finally I had half priced (not as good as free, but still…) tickets to see Dave Matthews play at Fenway Park. Another last second offer, this required me to high tail it to Boston from my office in Ridgefield, CT in time to get a few beers in me before the show went on. Due to noise regulations, DMB went on stage at 7:30, and played until about 10:45. As with more Dave shows, it was tremendous, he played a lot of songs off his new record (which I enjoy quite a bit) and plenty of classics. It’s crazy to think they’ve been around nearly 20 years. There are no pictures from this show, though I did purchase a pretty bad-ass poster specially made for the event, which I’ll post.

Lastly, though they choked away the series to the Washington Capitals, I was able to attend the New York Rangers final victory of the season, as I went to Game 4 of the Rangers-Capitals NHL Playoff Series. I’m still angry they blew a 3-1 series lead, but I can say without a doubt that watching them win a playoff game at home with my dad has climbed the ranks of favorite live sports memories. Pictures in a separate gallery, as usual.

A handful of concert opportunities abound for the summer. As of right now, I’ve secured tickets to only one show (MGMT, Prospect Park in July). Tickets will be purchased for at least one Blink 182 reunion show, and there is a strong possibility that I attend at least one, if not two, days at the All Points West festival in Liberty Park, NJ.

The summer is set to bring big things. Be ready, and as always…
